This is a picher took in my BIRTHDAY PARTY last week on the 28TH JUNE 07.If you have noticed that kiwi as got big. It was done by my Dad on Adobe Photoshop .All you have to do is take a picture of the thing you want to add in and of course add it in.

Cuddly Kiwi came home with me on Thursday because it was my BITHDAY party I am 8 now. I had the medal in a tournament.I had the trophy on Cefn Fforest presentation the week before last. The trophy is for playing for the under 8 team.

Tiny Ted is Back!!!

For those followers of Cefn Fforest Primary School's roaming geocaching bear Tiny Ted's latest travels the past few weeks have been a bit of a worry as Ted has been out of communication, and has not posted any pictures.... we have all been worried! ( especially some teachers at The Oaks Pupil Referal Unit, in England!!)

However this week Tiny Ted has re-emerged from his silence, he has been with our friend Sheryl in The United States, while there he has been attending a few teachers conferences

One in New York (lucky TT) and more recently in Birmingham, Alabama. He has posted these picutres of his travels...

He certainly seems to be enjoying his food again, and is continuing to teach teachers how to use computers.

He has been finding out what teachers talk about while they are at conferences... and what strange things teachers get up to!!!

He has also been finding out how many things there are to learn... and been worried about where he should go next...

As you would expect from such a special bear he has been making heaps and heaps of new friends.

He is now moving on to stay with a teacher over the summer vacation in Alabama, her name is April Chamberlain, I am sure that she will post some fabulous pictures of Tiny Ted's summer in the USA which we will hear about real soon....

Thank you Sheryl for taking such good care of a special bear ( he is really looking well in the pictures). More news on Tiny Ted's adventures will follow...

A Safe Idea from Miss K

A number of children and their families have been keen to make a blog for themselves and this is really great.

We have been talking quite a bit about cyber safety while we are learning about Keeping Ourselves Safe. I would like to recommend Firefox as a way to browse the internet. It is the browser we use at school and you can use it on a PC or an Apple equally well. It is a 17MB free download and after you do you can automatically import all your old bookmarks/favourites and passwords. Firefox has a number of really useful extras that make viewing the internet better.

One of these is Glubble.

Tia and Kiwi

On our way home from school the ice-cream van was parked outside my house so we had an

ice-cream to cool us down.My mum cooked our tea and then we went out to play, we rode up and down the lane on my brothers scooter until it was time to put it away, it looked as if it was going to rain and we didn't want to get wet.

Cuddly kiwi enjoyed the wind blowing in his face, as we rode up and down on the scooter with my dog sooty running after us . Cuddly kiwi liked to ride on sootys back too. Even my cat Pepsi came in to meet cuddly kiwi before we went to bed as we had a busy day. My mum took a few photos of us to put into cuddly Kiwi's photo album so that he can remember the fun day that he had a my house.

Cuddly Kiwi goes to a Gymnastics Competition!

On Saturday I took Kiwi with me to my Gymnastics Competition!First we warmed up on the things which we had to do.

After that the judges were judging us, I went on bars first we had to catch the height bar it was easy.Then we went on beam I stayed on all of the time.After that we went on vault we did handspring and we did it two times it was easy.

We moved on then to floor I did my floor after that we had to have our medals .My gym club came first I had the highest mark out of everyone I was the Captain of the team.

Cuddly Kiwi gets out in the Sunshine

Today Tuesday 22nd May Cefn Fforest Hockey Team, made up of Year 5 pupils travelled down to a place called Bedwas by minibus to play in the Activiate Hockey Tournament. They played 3 matches, drawing one, narrowly losing one and suffering a 4-0 in their last game. ( they were very tired by then and the team they played were mostly Y6's who had played last year)

We were there not only to play the game, but also the enjoy ourselves on what was a sunny and warm afternoon. We took Cuddly Kiwi along as a mascot... he had a brilliant time in the sun.

He was basking, taking in the sun's rays ( he had put on his sun cream - honest!!) He drew quite a crowd wondering who he was and certainly gained a new special friend for the afternoon.

This young lady is Mrs Rees's daughter ( Mrs Rees our Language Development Teacher kindly drove us down to the tournament and met up with her husband and daughter while we were there - ahhhh) - she has a winning smile don't you think?

On the way home Mrs Rhys agreed to let CK have a look at Caerphilly Castle - world renowned for it's leaning tower ( which you can see behind CK' head in the photograph.

The team enjoyed their afternoon and have gained a great deal of experience now ready for next year when they will all be in Year 6. They were no trouble at all, all afternoon, they were a credit to both their parents and the school - Well Done to CFP Hockey Squad 2007.

First me and cuddly kiwi helped my dad put up the trampoline. Then we played on my new trampoline my brother was good at bouncing on my trampoline.Then cuddly did a flip!!!

On Thursday we had a bike day to raise money for the garden and to have some fun. It was really fun and at the end of the day we had a final.

Cefn Fforest's Mini Dylan visits Nelson New Zealand

This post comes courtesy of Miss King ( and her mum I am sure ) and shows how the links between Wales and new Zealand have grown.

"I am starting to think of school again next week and thought you might like an update on our swan plants and an introduction to Mini-Dylan. Mini-Dylan has been given to us Mr H and the class of 3H of Cefn Fforest School in Wales. They understand how we might be missing Tiny Ted and he knows that Fern has left to go to Binghamton School in New York and Midnight hasn't arrived yet so thought that Mini-Dylan might just do the trick.

Dylan is a Welsh name and dragons are the national symbol of Wales. You will see the red dragon on the Welsh flag. Dylan will be able to come home and have his photo taken sometimes as well.I have been looking after the swan plants and misting them with my new mister every day and now there are over 30 new plants. If they all survive that will be enough for everyone to have one each and some left over for school. Mini-Dylan is keeping a watchful eye!"

** Tiny Ted in the USA**

Tiny Ted our travelling geocaghe bear has been on a journey around the world. His journey began back in October 2006 when he made the 11,000 mile trip to New Zealand to stay with some friends of ours in Moturoa Class at Appleby School near Nelson. While he was in New Zealand TT had a fabulous time as you will see if you visit his flickr page kindly set up by teacher Allanah King. Last month TT left New Zealand ( much to the sadness of Moturoa Class pupils ) with Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, heading for the East coast of the United States of America, the State of Virginia.

Sheryl lectures on the use of Technology in Education to pre-service and in-service teachers at William and Mary College, Williamsburg, and has agreed to pass TT on to her students.

TT has already been with 2 students and most recently he was visiting Chris Michaels at his Elementary School I will let Chris explain what they got up to .

On Thursday, Tiny Ted went with my fourth grade class from Magruder Elementary to Yorktown, VA. Yorktown is where Lord Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington in the American Revolutionary War. Trapped between American forces on land and French forces at sea, Cornwallis's troops were cut off from reinforcements and the supply line and had to surrender. Although the war lasted another year after the surrender, the defeat effectively ended the War.

Yorktown is a part of what is known as the Historic Triangle, which consists of Williamsburg , Jamestown, and Yorktown. Magruder Elementary is located in Williamsburg.

Tobacco was the largest cash crop in Colonial Virginia. The class is in a tobacco house where the tobacco leaves are hung to dry before being packaged and sent to Europe.

James and Tiny Ted sit next to Patrick Henry's famous quote "give me liberty or give me death" on the time line.

Mini Dylan takes Kiwi's Place

Unfortunately as it came to our Half Term break Cuddly Kiwi was enjoying his visit with one of our class that he completely forgot to come back to school. It was a shame as he was going off to Carlisle with Mr H this weekend - his class friend Mini Dylan ( a dragon ) has kindly agreed to take Kiwi's place on the trip - here is his Photo-Diary of his visit.

Christmas Day 2006

The great day has arrived, the day that has been being prepared for, for weeks ( if not months ) Christmas Day.
As an honoured guest Cuddly Kiwi had the run of the house before the day got into full swing, so he took a tour of the main dining table, prepared for the expected 10 guests.

He did sneak in to try out a place at the Christmas table.

Kiwi met some new friends of the soft toy variety before most of the humans arrived

Kiwi was introduced to probably the most important person visiting the Harrington house today - 11 month old Abi Jay who was enjoying her first Christmas -

Kiwi spent some time resting in the Christmas Tree while the humans ate, drank and opened their presents.

Kiwi had a very exciting, but strenuous Christmas Day and retired to bed early looking forward to an exciting Boxing Day.

Cuddly Kiwi has a Welsh Christmas

Cuddly Kiwi our travel pet from Moturoa Classroom at Appleby School near Nelson in the South Island of New Zealand.
since he has been with us he has visited many pupils houses, and has been on visits with them.
For Christmas he has gone home with Mr Harrington to spend his Christmas in Maesygwartha and beyond. He started his vacation by going to The Leisure Village in Cardiff on Christmas Eve. He went to the cinema the see Happy Feet, this made him feel a little homesick as most of the action takes place with the Emperor Penguins in Antarctica.
Following his trip to the cinema he went to the Holywood Bowl Bowling Centre where he watched some rather under par games of pool before watching a mammoth bowling session won by Grandma Jean ( a champion Green Bowler).
